Moundsville Middle School’s cafeteria staff took firstplace in the first-ever Iron Chef Competition sponsored by the West Virginia School Nutrition Association at the 2023 WVSNA Spring Conference in Morgantown.   

Once they chose a secret ingredient, MMS Cafeteria Manager Melissa Pajak along with cooks Shelly Gump, Robin O’Neil, and Jessica Snider made a General Tso Street Taco and a BBQ Pulled Chicken Street Taco served with sour cream, guacamole and salsa that wowed the judges. 

The contest was based off the Food Network TV show Iron Chef America. Each team of four had to pick a mystery ingredient from a basket to prepare an entrée. A full pantry was also provided to compliment the dish.
