Middle School Robotics Teams to Compete for a World Championship

The Moundsville Middle School Robotics team “The Return of Self-Destruct” and the Sherrard Middle School Robotics teams “Killer Frequency” and “Lil’ George” earned a spot at the VEX Robotics World Championship following wins on Tuesday at the West Virginia State Middle School Robotics Tournament.

“The Return of Self-Destruct”

Members of “The Return of Self-Destruct” are Juda Jones, Leo Nguyen, Isaiah Toothman and Kingsley Zheng.

“Killer Frequency”

“Killer Frequency” is comprised of Kolson Shepard, Blake Oliver, Nathan Spangler, Chase Nolan and Josh Naome.

“Lil’ George,”

“Lil’ George,” consisting of Zane Gast, Evan Cunningham, Gavin Pickett, Kabe Blake and Joziah Baker, also won the “Excellence Award” at the state competition held at Fairmont State University.

The middle school students will travel to Dallas, Texas from Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11, 2025, to compete against teams from around the globe at the VEX V5 Robotics Competition Middle School Event, a division of the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship.
