MMS Trojan Band Members Honored
Region 1 Honors Band:
Moundsville Middle School 8th graders Logan Dalek and Kingsley Zheng auditioned for the Region 1 Honors Band.
In order to be considered for the Honors Band, a student must submit a demo recording that’s reviewed by a panel of judges. Kingsley earned a chair on the baritone saxophone, and Dalek obtained a chair on the clarinet.
The concert was scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025, but was cancelled because of inclement weather.
The Region 1 Honors Band is comprised of students from Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties.
WV All-State Band:
2025 marks the second year of existence for the West Virginia Middle School All-State Band.
The band is made up of 100 middle school musicians from across the Mountain State. There were more than 900 students who sent an audition recording.
Kingsley Zheng, an 8th grade student at Moundsville Middle School, made baritone saxophone first chair. He also sent a demo playing the alto saxophone but seated higher on the baritone saxophone.
Kingsley will be in Charleston on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7, 2025, to rehearse music and then be a part of the public performance at the 79th annual West Virginia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference.
