Three Moundsville Middle School students were recognized Tuesday for their participation in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

Each year, the Moundsville Lions Club sponsors the art contest for kids in hopes of encouraging young people to express their visions of peace.

Contestants were asked to create a poster that visually communicated the contest theme, “The Future of Peace.”

Lauren Brannan earned first place.  Her poster design will represent this area at the state competition.  Elizabeth Lowe claimed second place. Third place was awarded to Reagan Dorsey.

For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.

This is the third year in a row Moundsville Middle School has had a district winner.
